Starting 1 May 2025, stop saying “Community Design” - say EU Design 🇪🇺

✋5 things (+cool bonuses) you need to know about the new EU design.

1. 🎞️ Animations
   Movements, transitions, and animated sequences can now be registered as designs.

2. 💿Virtual products too
   Metaverse objects, GUIs, virtual rooms, graphical symbols, even light displays! If it’s designed, it’s covered.

3. 🧩 3D printing? Yes.
   Digital files used to share or 3D print your design are now protected: creating, sharing, or distributing those files without consent is now clearly prohibited.

4. 🔧 Spare parts are an exception.
   A component to restore the original appearance of a design-protected product is no longer considered infringement. Conditions apply – seek advice.

5. 💥 50 designs at once!
   You can now register up to 50 different designs at once — even for different product types. Think cost savings: your product, your app interface, your shop display, and a slick 3D animation, all protected in one move.

✨ Bonus (I couldn’t help but give some more):
- Commentary, parody, and criticism of a registered design are officially okay.
- You can use a new design marking to flex your protection.
- You can register your design and keep it secret for up to 30 months.
